Phoenix Investment Bank (Labuan) Ltd. has received in-principle approval from the Labuan Financial Services Authority and is completing the outstanding conditions for a Labuan investment banking licence. Phoenix is being established to serve eligible corporate, institutional and professional clients across selected global markets, subject to final licence issuance and applicable approvals.

A Trade Finance-Led Platform

At its foundation, Phoenix is intended to be a trade finance-led investment banking platform. After full licence issuance, its proposed initial focus is expected to include letters of credit, standby letters of credit, bank guarantees, documentary collections, import and export finance, correspondent banking and SWIFT-integrated transaction workflows.

The positioning is deliberate: Phoenix is being designed as a disciplined, compliant and relationship-driven platform for eligible clients that require structured execution capability across jurisdictions, trade routes and counterparties.

Built on the Fintrade Group Foundation

Phoenix is promoted by the Fintrade Group, whose existing platforms span financial advisory and securities. That foundation provides Phoenix with trade finance experience, banking relationship depth, RMA development capability and a management team with substantive experience in institutional financial services operations.

A Long-Term Institutional Roadmap

Phoenix's long-term vision is to develop into a broader institutional platform covering trade finance, structured financing, financial advisory, custody, payments, card and merchant acquisition, secured lending and selected institutional markets. Each area of expansion will remain subject to final licensing status, regulatory approvals, operational readiness and board-approved controls.

The philosophy behind Phoenix is simple: trust takes time to build, and it starts with governance, execution discipline and doing what the institution is authorised and ready to do.

In a world where international trade is often affected by regulatory complexity, fragmented service providers and informal broker channels, Phoenix is being designed to become, after final licence issuance, a regulated, transparent and operationally reliable alternative.

The goal is to build a banking partner that eligible clients choose to retain through disciplined execution, continuous improvement and a long-term commitment to the relationships it develops after formal commencement.
